For eight months, the Royal Academy of Engineering has provided 16 talented entrepreneurs from across Africa with tailored training, mentoring, and support to turn their engineering innovations into scalable businesses that can transform the continent. Four finalists will pitch their innovations to a panel of expert judges for a chance to become the 2025 Africa Prize winner.
Our finalists
- NeoNest, Vivian Arinaitwe, Uganda - A low-cost medical device designed to prevent neonatal hypothermia during ambulance transfers from rural health facilities to referral hospitals.
- Terp 360, Elly Savatia, Kenya - An AI-powered software using hyper-realistic 3D avatars to translate text and speech into sign language in real time, bridging communications gaps and fostering inclusivity for the deaf and hearing-impaired.

- E-Safiri, Carol Ofafa, Kenya - E-Safiri provides affordable solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging and battery-swapping stations, to enhance rural mobility. Excess energy supports businesses, cold storage, and street lighting.
- AquaMet, Frank Owusu, Ghana - An innovative IoT-enabled device, is transforming fish farming in Ghana by providing real-time water quality data and actionable recommendations.
